NaijaRemoteJobs — Terms of Service

This document contains the Terms of Service for NaijaRemoteJobs ("NaijaRemoteJobs," "we," "us," or "our"). It applies to our website, applications, services, job listings, employer tools, candidate profiles, subscriptions, and related features (collectively, the "Services").

By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

Section 1

About NaijaRemoteJobs

NaijaRemoteJobs is a remote-only job board and career platform designed to help job seekers discover remote opportunities and help employers post and manage remote roles.

We are a platform, not an employer. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, we do not hire, recruit on behalf of employers, or act as a party to employment contracts between job seekers and employers.

Section 2

Eligibility

You must be able to form a legally binding contract under the laws applicable to you to use the Services. If you are using the Services on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use the Services with the consent and supervision of a parent, guardian, or legally responsible adult where permitted by law.

Section 3

Your Account

To use certain features, you may need to create an account.

You agree to:

  • provide accurate, current, and complete information;
  • keep your login credentials secure;
  • promptly update your information when it changes;
  • be responsible for all activity under your account.

You must not share your account with others, impersonate another person, or create multiple accounts to evade restrictions, fees, or enforcement actions.

Section 4

Remote-Only Job Board Rules

NaijaRemoteJobs is built for remote work opportunities only.

By posting or submitting a job, profile, or listing on the platform, you agree that:

  • the role is genuinely remote, hybrid-with-remote option only if clearly stated, or otherwise explicitly approved by us;
  • the role description is truthful, current, and lawful;
  • the job does not misrepresent location, pay, employment status, hours, or legal requirements;
  • the role complies with applicable labor, tax, privacy, immigration, and employment laws;
  • you will not use the Services to advertise in-person-only jobs as remote roles.

We reserve the right to remove any listing we believe is not truly remote or does not meet our editorial or safety standards.

Section 5

Employer Responsibilities

If you post jobs, recruit candidates, or use employer tools, you are responsible for:

  • the accuracy and legality of your job post;
  • the hiring process, screening, interviews, offers, and employment decisions;
  • ensuring your job post is not deceptive, discriminatory, exploitative, illegal, or fraudulent;
  • ensuring all wages, salary ranges, benefits, working hours, and location requirements are clearly stated where required or appropriate;
  • complying with applicable equal employment, anti-discrimination, tax, payroll, worker classification, and data protection laws.

You must not post:

  • scam or pyramid-type offers;
  • pay-to-apply jobs that are deceptive or unlawful;
  • jobs involving illegal activity;
  • content that requests sensitive personal data without a lawful basis;
  • adult content, exploitative work, trafficking-related work, or any harmful or unlawful opportunity;
  • misleading internships, volunteer roles, or "test tasks" designed to extract free labor.
Section 6

Candidate Responsibilities

If you apply for jobs, create a profile, or contact employers through the Services, you agree to:

  • submit truthful information;
  • not misrepresent your skills, experience, qualifications, work authorization, location, or availability;
  • communicate professionally and lawfully;
  • review employer terms, interview requests, and offers carefully;
  • verify any employer, payment request, or third-party instruction before sharing personal information or money.

NaijaRemoteJobs does not guarantee that any employer is legitimate, that any job is available, or that any application will result in an interview or employment.

Section 7

No Employment Guarantee

We do not guarantee:

  • that a job listing is authentic, complete, or error-free;
  • that an employer will respond to an application;
  • that a candidate will be hired;
  • that a role will remain open;
  • that a remote role will remain remote after posting;
  • that compensation, benefits, or conditions will match every expectation unless confirmed directly by the employer.

You are responsible for performing your own due diligence before entering into any employment or contractor relationship.

Section 8

Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to use the Services to:

  • violate any law or regulation;
  • post false, misleading, defamatory, obscene, hateful, harassing, or abusive content;
  • upload malware, attempt unauthorized access, scrape at scale, or interfere with site operation;
  • impersonate a person or organization;
  • harvest data, email addresses, or resumes without permission;
  • send spam, phishing messages, or fraudulent offers;
  • bypass fees, rate limits, moderation, or access controls;
  • infringe intellectual property or other rights;
  • upload content that is discriminatory, violent, exploitative, or unsafe.

We may remove content or suspend accounts at our discretion where we believe these rules have been violated.

Section 9

Job Posting Standards

All job postings must be:

  • accurate and honest;
  • clearly written;
  • related to remote work;
  • free from hidden conditions;
  • free from discriminatory language unless a lawful occupational requirement applies;
  • consistent with the actual employment or contracting arrangement.

We may edit formatting, reject, unpublish, or remove any job post that does not meet our standards.

Section 10

User Content

You may submit content such as profiles, resumes, job posts, company descriptions, messages, reviews, or other materials ("User Content").

You retain ownership of your User Content, but you grant NaijaRemoteJobs a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, publish, translate, adapt, distribute, and otherwise use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, improve, promote, and secure the Services.

You represent and warrant that:

  • you own or have permission to use the User Content;
  • your User Content does not violate any law or third-party right;
  • your User Content is truthful to the best of your knowledge.

We may moderate, hide, reject, or remove User Content at any time.

Section 11

Payments, Plans, and Billing

Some features may be paid, including employer subscriptions, featured listings, promoted jobs, premium tools, or digital products.

When you purchase a paid service:

  • you agree to pay the applicable fees, taxes, and charges;
  • you authorize us and our payment processors to charge your selected payment method;
  • fees may be non-refundable unless required by law or expressly stated otherwise;
  • recurring subscriptions renew until canceled according to the plan terms.

We may change pricing, package features, and billing terms with reasonable notice where required.

Section 12

Refunds

Unless a specific product page, invoice, or promotion states otherwise, all sales are final once a digital service has been delivered, activated, or consumed.

Refund requests may be granted only at our discretion or where required by law.

Section 13

Third-Party Services

The Services may link to or integrate with third-party products, platforms, employers, payment gateways, analytics tools, email systems, messaging tools, or job sources.

We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their content, security, availability, or policies. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

Section 14

Intellectual Property

Except for User Content, all content, branding, design, layout, graphics, software, code, logos, and other materials on NaijaRemoteJobs are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from our materials without our prior written consent, except where permitted by law.

Section 15

Moderation and Enforcement

We may, in our sole discretion and without prior notice:

  • remove content;
  • suspend or terminate accounts;
  • restrict functionality;
  • reject or cancel listings;
  • reverse or block transactions where permitted;
  • report suspected unlawful activity to relevant authorities.
Section 16

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted availability.

We do not warrant that:

  • the Services will always be secure or error-free;
  • listings will be accurate or current;
  • any employer or candidate is genuine;
  • any job offer, payment, or hiring outcome will occur.
Section 17

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NaijaRemoteJobs and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising from or related to your use of the Services.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability will be limited to the amount you paid to us for the relevant service in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose, or the minimum amount permitted by law, whichever is lower.

Section 18

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless NaijaRemoteJobs and its representatives from and against claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses arising from:

  • your use of the Services;
  • your User Content;
  • your violation of these Terms;
  • your violation of law or third-party rights;
  • your dealings with employers, candidates, or third parties.
Section 19

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms, created risk, or used the Services improperly.

You may stop using the Services at any time. Certain provisions survive termination, including intellectual property, limitations of liability, disclaimers, indemnity, and dispute-related clauses.

Section 20

Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated version on the website and update the effective date. Continued use of the Services after changes become effective means you accept the revised Terms.

Section 21

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless a mandatory law in your country provides otherwise.

Section 22

Dispute Resolution

Before starting formal proceedings, the parties should first attempt to resolve disputes by good-faith negotiation through our support or legal contact channel.

If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it may be submitted to the courts or another forum required by applicable law.
